give. Audra gives her talent so completely that it truly feels like you’re leaving the theatre with a gift. a party favor, if you will.

I think it is imperative to remember that we do what we do as a service to others. Sure, we all take gigs for different reasons and sometimes those reasons are more selfish than selfless. No shame in that. But when the time comes to actually do the thing, there’s nothing I want to see less onstage than a selfish performance.

Audra McDonald is such a prime example of that. She shows up and she gives. And we love her for it and are always there, stretching our arms as wide as we can, to receive the bounty.
